“Some great memories of racing with the HRSR over some 8 years.

Highlight (lowlight!), a 10 lap door handle to door handle race with Andy Colley (Imp) and my Abarth 100TC at Castle Combe. We were fighting over last place and Andy beat me by a cars length after many swapping of place.

Many great overseas races – Hockenhiem, Rouen, Le Mans Bugatti circuit, Croix en Ternois.

A race at Snetterton in torrential rain, when the Abarth’s parallelogram wiper system fell apart on the warm up lap. In the spray the only thing I could see was Bob Sherrings Galaxy tail lights, so I just followed them. The Galaxy was obviously faster in a straight line but I could get right behind again under braking – it occurred to me about 3 laps in, with my eyes on stalks to keep in touch, that if Bob went off so was I !

The race at Rouen was I believe the last to take place on that circuit (April ‘92) Ronnie Fielding, Glen Maskell, Tony Castle Miller and my self made the journey there, invited by the French equivalent of the HRSR. The abiding memory is setting off on our first lap and charging downhill through the left, right, left sweeping curves only to arrive in the run off road for the cobbled hairpin (Rouen is a street circuit) to be joined by Ronnie, Glen and Tony! Note to self, listen to the French when they tell you that the hairpin comes up rather suddenly!”
