Dear Historic Saloon Competitor,
I hope you are all looking forward to the coming season and can confirm the series regulations have been approved by MSUK.
Donington Park and Mallory Park are currently assigned track time as standalone races. The remainder you will be racing alongside the two Road Sports Championships. If we have good support and some spare time becomes available we could consider expanding this option.
As a trial for this year, some competitors have expressed the desire to race with an alternative Yokohama tyre as opposed to the period Dunlop spec. By electing to do so those cars will be placed in separate classes. We can then monitor the relevant performances of the alternative and if there is a majority consensus to switch. We do know that for some cars that is not a suitable Yokohama equivalent and it is possible we could continue with a multiple class option. The racing this year can determine where you the competitor want the regulations to go for future seasons.
We have retained all the Appendix K classes as well as the HRSR specification classes. It is important that the opportunity is there for competitors from other series to come and see if they like the HSCC paddock and hopefully decide to prioritise HSCC grids for the future.
As a club, the HSCC wishes to retain its broad appeal across Historic Motorsport. It is important to remember that the many groups offering events now can only do so because of the pioneering work of the HSCC. A lot of the cars now being sold for millions would have been lost to the scrapyard if it wasn’t for the enthusiasts that founded the HSCC. Some groups are quite blatant in their plagiarism of HSCC regulations. We continue to take it as a compliment that the regulations we created cannot be bettered. The intention is to still be able to continue offering the best recreation of period racing where the programme always included Tin Tops, Sports racers and Formula cars.
If you want the same, please place your entries online into the events you would like to take part in this year. If you have any difficulties entering talk to Donna in the office. Donna can also guide you through adding the HSCC App to your Mobile phone. This carries all the latest information regarding events.
Remember Race entry fees are not taken until three days before the event. So if the car develops a problem, those anticipated parts have not arrived or life away from racing has to take priority you can still cancel.
Where ever you choose to race have fun, I hope to see many faces during the year ahead.
Kind Regards, Alan Jones HSCC
