Ref: Historic Saloons Pre ’66 : Mallory Park, Saturday 6 September 2025
Hi, To all the drivers who raced at Silverstone over the Festival weekend we hope you had a great time. In complete contrast to that event, the HSCC will be running a Fun Day* at Mallory Park on Saturday 6 September (in the spirit if not the chaos of the Radio 1 Fun Day, in 1975), a no frills meeting ‘like club motor racing used to be’ – which for Historic Saloons translates to:-
09.00 Mallory Park breakfast
11.50 Qualifying @15min
14.40 Race 1 @20min
16.50 Race 2 @ 20min
Trophies and then home in time for tea
£395.00 (plus single event membership at £95 for non-members)
The Historic Saloons Pre ’66 grid is building nicely with some really cool cars (with thanks to all drivers already entered) but we have room for a few more if you are quick. If you love historic saloon racing but don’t enjoy hanging about, this is an opportunity too good to miss.
Scrutineering will be available Friday afternoon for competitors who like to arrive and set up early.
To enter, simply phone Donna at the HSCC 01327 858400 Ext 3 – Or email: donna@hscc.org.uk

In the brief moments when you are not on track the meeting will also be celebrating the 50th Anniversary Celebration for Historic Formula Ford 2000, going back to where it all began on 9 March 1975 (won by Ian Taylor if you are interested), supported by Formula Ford 1600s. Although for many spectators picnicking around this natural amphitheatre a colourful grid of Historic Saloons Pre ’66 will be the highlight of the afternoon. I look forward to seeing you there, it will be a Fun Day, Kind Regards, Jim

ps. *Radio 1 Fun Day, Mallory Park, May 18 1975:
50 years since the infamous Radio 1 Fun Day at Mallory Park, when the Bay City Rollers landed on the island and fans swam across the lake to reach them! John Peel reported live on air that girls were being rescued by members of the BBC Sub Aqua Club, while a Womble was seen water skiing from a speed boat being driven by Tony Blackburn.
Alan Jones is currently resisting requests to dress as a Womble.
