Coming into the final race of the season, 3 drivers could potentially win the overall championship this year: - Dan Cox leading on 78 points, followed by last year’s champion, Simon Benoy on 75 and Neil Wood on 72. Two weeks ago, Dan had a big off at Donington in the second race, damaging his Lotus Cortina, so his car was looking a bit second hand when he arrived at Silverstone. To be sure of winning the championship he needed to win Class C. Simon could only win if Dan had a bad day and finished 3rd or lower in class. Neil needed both Dan and Simon to have problems.
Also the Final points have been uploaded, see them here .

37 of the 65 members (being 57%) entitled to vote on the oversize engine proposal returned their voting slips by the deadline. They voted in favour ( 21 for and 16 against) of allowing more of the same type of cars already running oversize engines to race with the HRSR in 2009 and beyond. The Technical Regulations will be changed for 2009 to reflect this decision.

To refresh you on the item
There was a proposal at the AGM held on 2nd December, 2007 that more oversize engine cars be allowed to race in the HRSR Championship than are currently allowed. After a prolonged debate it was obvious that a significant number of those present were in favour of some relaxation of the current position though there were several different ideas put forward as to just what change should be made. It was agreed that it would be left to the committee to consider the ideas suggested and that a proposal would be put to a vote of all those who were members in 2007. Any change resulting from the vote will be incorporated into the Technical Regulations for the 2009 season.
A recap of how we have arrived at the current position may be useful.
At the 2000 AGM it was proposed that in future all new cars registering with the HRSR and running in the HRSR classes, would have to run in the correct class in which it's production, or homologated, engine capacity placed it. In other words, as an example, a Ford Anglia, available in period as a 997cc or 1198cc model would have to run in either Class D (1151cc to 1300cc) or in Class E (up to 1150cc). It was also agreed that those cars already running with oversize engines would be allowed to continue to run in the championship until the end of the 2003 season, with the intention that all cars would be in their correct class from 2004 onwards. At the 2003 AGM a proposal was made to overturn the intended restriction to cars running only in the correct class and to allow oversize engine cars the right to continue to run without time restriction, and this proposal was carried at a vote at the AGM. This proposal was then slightly modified to restrict oversize engine cars to those that had been registered with HRSR prior to 1st January, 2001. Those cars are 1300cc Ford Anglia 100E, 1500cc Ford Anglia 105Es, 2000cc Lotus Cortinas, 2010cc Alfa Romeo Giulias and Giulia Sprint GTs and 2300cc BMW. There was also a Jaguar Mk I at 3.8 litres but this particular car would now be allowed under our relaxed regulation for 1950s cars.
After much deliberation the committee feels that the question for members to consider is do they wish the Technical Regulations to permit entry of more of the same types of car with oversize engines whether or not they have previously competed with the HRSR or for the Technical Regulations to continue to restrict oversize engines only to those cars permitted to run at present.
It is important that all members have their voices heard on this subject so that a decision can be made that will suit the majority.
